+ Sing Niagara is a dynamic energetic fun loving, all female vocal group based in the Niagara Region, dedicated to superior singing and entertaining performances in the a cappella style of four-part harmony.
The history of Sing Niagara began in Oct 1993 when the chorus received our charter from Harmony, Inc., a non-profit vibrant international organization of woman singers, whose purpose is to empower all women through education, friendship and a cappella singing in the barbershop style.
Our spirited chorus captured 1st place in the 1994 Harmony, Inc. International competition only thirteen months later and continues to compete in area and international Harmony competitions..
As well as competing, we love to entertain! Performances throughout the Niagara Region include an annual June Show, civic,benefit and private performances. We perform in the Niagara-on-the-Lake Candle Light Walk, the St Catharines Santa Claus Parade, for service clubs,social clubs, associations, seniors residences, community organizations and events.Our annual June show is the highlight of our chorus year.and provides the funding to support our benefit performances and our charities..
Our rich beautiful sound of voices singing four-part harmony is heard and enjoyed through our diverse repertoire, which includes contemporary pop, jazz,swing,spiritual, show tunes,doo-wop as well as favourite barbershop classics.
We welcome new members all year and all you need is the love of singing to get you started.
The ability to read music is not a prerequisite, but it is an asset. With the ongoing support from our Assistant Director, Marie Pyper, and our music team, our members learn their parts with ease.
Our members receive vocal training through our Educational programs.We receive top-notch musical, vocal and performance training from respected coaches of international acclaim.
The weekly rehearsals bring together women of all ages who took up this hobby because they enjoy the camaraderie and fun they have when singing and performing.
